One of the four main basic ablities you need to quickly learn French is the ability to write. A great way to practice your written French is to find a French penpal. You and your penpal can write about a specific topic in his/her own words and then compare the versions. You should rewrite your paragraph several times making the corrections with each edit. This seems tedious but you'll see an improvement with your written French. When you want to quickly learn French, writing French not only gives you a "formal" grasp of French and French vocabulary but it also will improve your proficiency in French.
